Where the hell was I? Well, work, life… everything got way too busy, but I’m back and have a few things on my plate that I want to get to. Like a quick review of the Call of Cthulhu ruleset for Fantasy Grounds 2. And the official OSRIC 2.0 release. And the amount of crazy Black friday shopping I did from my computer. And the fact that I’ve been neglecting my Warhammer: Age of Reckoning gaming. And the reboot of one FG2 campaign I’m in and the slow but steady start of another.
Obviously I didn’t bang out those reviews by Friday, as it is currently Sunday nite and I still haven’t posted one. Don’t you hate when real life interferes with having fun?
Anyhow, did some more C&C via FG2 last nite… lots of fun, but with only 2 players and 2 npc grunts there was bound to be problems… TPK in this case. FG2 players are a flacky lot… about half never show up for their first game, go figure. We’ll see if we solve that problem as the campaign picks up.
Hopefully I can start hitting those reviews this week. ::Crossing Fingers::
On a side note, I have the new Acer 8.9″ laptop. 160 gig hd and windows xp home preinstalled. It makes for an amazing PDF reader and a nice way to surf while playing online or otherwise. It runs FG2 BUT due to the decreased resolution for the smaller screen i lose out on the hot keys and the bottom of the chat box. I was hoping I could use the mini-lappy instead of the full sized 17″ gaming monster for the weekend trips but alas it seems it won’t be filling that role. Still, for less then 400 bucks it was a steal and makes for easy surfing from bed.

I hope to bang out some reviews for products that I’ve purchased from RPGNow… they will be posted on RPGNow and this site. If all goes well they will be up on friday nite. If all doesnt go well… heh
Thank god for the extra hour of sleep sat nite… I am no longer used to being up at 2 am… heh. C&C via Fantasy Grounds II went well last nite, but we just had 2 players… as both of us were the type that stressed “role” over “roll” I don’t think we had a chnce to really give the whole interface a proper shake, but fun was had by all none the less. Tentative game date for next sat nite… I’m gonna need lots of caffeine

I SHOULD be playing in a new C&C campaign via FG2 tonight at 10 pm edt. Thank god we get the extra hour of sleep tonight as this is going to be painful. Hopefully this much delayed first sesson goes off w/o a hitch.

Last nite’s FG2 session was a wash. SmiteWorks has been rolling out frequent updates to the FG2 software and if one group member updates, all must. Well, the latest update was buggy for us and did not allow us to connect to the host. Hopefully next week we have better luck or else I mightbe GM’ing sooner then I planned. I need my gaming fix
OSRIC - The retro clone of AD&D has seen a major facelift with OSRIC 2. Stuart has released the beta in a free PDF that hits 400 pages, about 375 or so of which are gaming goodness. I haven’t decided on whether to use C&C or OSRIC for my first FG2 campaign, but even if I go C&C I’ll be mining OSRIC for ideas. Check it out here and you can give Stuart your feedback on ENWorld.

Heh… so, last tuesday, the day my GM was supposed to merge his two FG2 groups we didn’t have a session. In the confusion our GM forgot what nite it was
As for the pending C&C game using FG2… its still pending. Seems you can never get players when you need them. The fact that the game starts at 10 pm eastern time probably doesn’t help, but as the GM is based in Europe it is a compromise on all sides.
Tempted to start my own C&C campaign using FG2, but that wouldn’t happen until after the holidays at best.

Saw an email in my inbox with the subject T5 Preorders. I had nearly forgetten that I had preordered Traveller 5 this past spring. Anyhow, it seems I’ll be having access to part of the project via the T5 forums before it releases. No idea if I’ll be able to write about what I get to see, but if I can I’ll be posting about it here. The old Traveller Starter Set (Black Box) was my third rpg I ever owned. AD&D was the first, and 1st edition Gamma World was my second. Any game that can kill you off during character creation holds a special place in my heart… heh.
